Hungarian Peace Community hails the Bridge-policy of Hungary between East and West

Timed on the visit of 17 February in Hungary of Russian President, Vladimir Putin, the Hungarian Community for Peace held a meeting and has edited a joint communique defining as symbolic Putin’s presence in Hungary on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II, and hailing the Bridge-policy of the hungarian government caracterised by the rapprochement of Eastern and Western civilisations. „The acceptance of the extended hand is not only at the interest of Hungary, but of all Europe” – they write.

The statement welcomes the hungarian-russian cooperation egreements signed in Budapest, with special regards to the cooperation in energy and health. Document hails the opening to East policy of the hungarian government, because it helps the achievement of a more just european and world social order by the inclusion of Russia onto the european cooperation system, and calls US and NATO to revise the Strategy of confrontation with East by the realpolitik of cooperation and the respect of equal rights of the peoples. The Hungarian Community for Peace considers an important tie between Hungary and Russia the fight for Autonomy of the hungarian and russian minorities living in Ukraine instead of the Kiev „homogenous Nation State” theory. „We consider pointing ahead the article 11 of Minsk Agreement signed on 12 February carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine with a new constitution entering into force by the end of 2015 providing for decentralization as a key element (including a reference to the specificities of certain areas in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, agreed with the representatives of these areas), as well as adopting permanent legislation on the special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in line with measures as set out in the footnote until the end of 2015.1 It creates a precedent also from the point of view of the Hungarian Minority living in Sub-cCrpathian Region of Ukraine”. Statement remembers that the Sub-Carpathian hungarian minority has already expressed his decision for autonomy with a referendum in 1991, but Kiev has never respected his will. „The federal constitutional reorganisation of Ukraine is interest of all nations, national minorities and ethnics composing the country. We call the attention to the fact, that the agreement of 21 February 2014 signed by the ukranian sides in opposition has already declared the same intention of constitutional reform, but Kiev has turned his back to, while Germany and France, the granting powers of the agreement have taken note of the Kiev refusal up to the signing of the 12 February Minsk agrrement” – document says. At the opinion of the Hungarian Paace Community the Hungarian People is interested in the just and lasting Peace in Ukraine, based on the Freedom and the Self-determination of the Peoples. Finally the Community for Peace reaffirms his initiative of Warsaw, november 2014 for the convocation of a European Civic Conference for Peace, with the aim to promove the process of a Helsinki like inter-State negotiations to create the new frame of cooperation on Security, Economy and Human Rights between East and West.+++
