“”The Hungarian Community for Peace agrees that Hungary, as a NATO and EU member, builds its system of contacts also with no NATO and EU countries in the spirit of mutually beneficial cooperation.
The Hungarian Community for Peace has cited by agreeing Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's statement of 15 May: “No alliance is required, but we must accept each other as we are, the world's peoples must be linked with the respect of the different social systems, cultures, approaches and values”.
The Hungarian government's willingness to cooperate with China, Russia and other countries that are not part of the Western alliance system is in line with our national interests, because it contributes to the development of the country through the involvement of new resources, and strengthens the peaceful cooperation by enforcing the mutual interests - says the Hungarian Peace Community.
The pragmatic, open policy of the Hungarian government goes beyond the alliance system to which it belongs and, in substance, coincides with the opinion of the President of the United States, at whose opinion NATO is an outdated organization.
However, the practical realization of this realpolitik recognition is still waiting for itself, as it encounters the enormous resistance of the circles interested in the confrontation. According to Peace Community’s assessment, the focus on globalization is mainly concerned with American, Western European and Japanese financial groups. Because of their resistance so far President Trump has not been able to enforce his original vision of improvement of US-Russian relations. Hungary is in a relatively fortunate position, given that national capital is interested in opening up and that a significant part of the foreign capital invested in Hungary has no interest in blocking this process. Thus, it is possible to support our development through specific investment, trade and financial agreements with the Silk Road Initiative and the Eurasian Economic Union – Peace Community analysis is writing.
According to Peace Community, the peaceful construction work can bring its fruit: to replace international confrontation with the system of peaceful co-operation. We consider important that our country is part of a global process looking beyond the globalization, which was characterized by Viktor Orbán as "era shift". We are convinced that Hungary will enjoy the benefits of a policy that has not only understand the sense of the transformation in the world, but also wants to take advantage of the new opportunities.
The Hungarian Peace Community at the same time regrets the fact that some domestic political forces are trying to push for globalization and take on the commonwealth with those, who want to prevent normal relations with Russia and the East in general, against the original intention of US president. They want to narrow the scope of our country to NATO and the EU, denying the necessity of opening to East, adjusting as if we should choose between Brussels and Moscow and announcing anti-Russianism. The Community for Peace urges them to review their views, to look ahead and to analyze the processes in the world, because by blocking them, they reaffirms the subordination of Hungary in the existing globalization system, and with their attachment to the old-fashioned cool past, they hinder the development of our interests to the national development and peaceful co-operation.””
